MONEY DWINDLING FAST
Dear Editor
Despite all the money the Neighbourhood Management Board have, it is not going to last forever. It is dwindling fast. The purple bus which a lot of people rely on has doubled its fare in the last few weeks. The estate is getting dirtier by the day. Who knows how long the CCTV will be able to operate as they do now? These are just three things that have money given to them to keep them running. As an estate we need to look forward and not stay in a timewarp. Groups on the estate are finding it incredibly difficult to get funding. I am not surprised at this as Castle Vale has had a lot of money spent on it and people are not just going to give -give – give. Tthey say we have had enough hand outs. I do support a Parish Council because I want our area to remain in a reasonable condition –if not better.A lot of lies have been spread by a handful of people which for some reason they believe. I do not see why ordinary people cannot see that the group who set the ball rolling on a Parish Council only had the good of the estate at heart. In a meeting with Sion Simon he said he would back any move to give people on the estate a say in what would happen over the future. The ward commitee even gave us £250 to help us start up. They do not want to see our area go back to how it was 12 years ago. Yes it may cost you a little extra money a week but that is only for those who don’t receive any benefits but that is a small price to pay to be able to live in a good area where people want to come and live and raise children.Do the people know that 15% voted for a Parish Council in a legal petition and only 9% voted against in a very questionable opinion poll conducted by Birmingham City Council at which no one, not even your elected councilors, were able to witness. Words Fail me.
