  • This is rapidly becoming a soap opera, it’s gone on for years and still shows no sign of resolution.

What is a real disappointment is that the people of Castle Vale continue to be denied the high quality leisure facility promised back in the Housing Action Trust days.

One thought occurs to me; given that there’s now a scheme for community ownership of public buildings, should this perhaps now be considered for the Vale Stadium?

  • The issue here is very clear. There is no true representation for Castle Vale on Birmingham City Council. None of the 3 “Tyburn” councillors either live or work in Castle Vale and as such have very little inclination to fight the cause. As for the MP for Erdington…. he has absolutely no interest anything whatsoever so there is no hope of support from him.

Castle Vale needs & deserves a voice on the city council but unfortunately the tenants & residents do not turn out on polling days. The last local election results show that the polling stations in Castle Vale had the lowest turn out in Birmingham….which is very sad

If the tenants & residents of Castle Vale were to forge together they have enough votes to elect a local resident with a good mandate. There are close to 9,000 people in Castle Vale and just 1,500 votes would be enough to elect a councillor. It is about time the local tenants & residents let their X’s do the talking and get out there and vote!

    If they don’t vote…they don’t have a voice!

With no voice… they get no services… simples!”

  • This is a lot of talk by Michael Sloyan but I challenge the substance of what he’s saying but don’t wish to go into that here but there are others views than his!

  • … and as for our local councillors not having Castle Vale at the top of their agenda – who got us the special “bulky item” collection a few months back? I for one was very grateful, and judging by the heaps of stuff in our road alone, so were many, many others.

  • i totally agree with everything michael sloyan has said. the only time you hear off the local councillors is when they want your vote!
they are a total waste of time if you ask me.

  • To this latest reply, I ask why remain anonymous? Also, the local councillors are regularly to be seen on the estate and available.May I plead with those who are concerned to come to some of our meetings and be involved in the welfare of the estate.

  • It’s too easy to sit at a computer and slag people off; I’ve done it myself, re Sion Simon, & I regret it, as I’ve never met the man. The cynical attitude that “anonymous” reveals is partly what’s responsible for the poor turnout that Mr. Sloyan cites.
Perhaps, as Sion Simon is now a minister in Culture, Media and Sport, it might be more productive to try and enlist his support, or at least arouse his interest, in the matter of the Vale Stadium. Has anyone been in touch with him about this issue?
