Castle Vale Police are urging residents to be aware that door to door callers claiming to be representatives of Scottish Power may be bogus. Concerned residents from Dyce Close and Whittle Croft have contacted police to tell them that they have been visited in recent evenings by ‘reps’ claiming to be working for Scottish Power. Police have contacted Scottish Power who say that they have no representatives in the area at the moment, and that they would not expect their sales people to be calling on homes during the evenings.
Police have also received complaints from residents who are suspicious about two smartly dressed adult male callers who claim to be acting for a charity.
Advice from the police is:
- Answer the door but keep the chain on.
- Ask to see ID.
- All ID should have a telephone number that you can contact if you want further proof from the caller’s employers.
- If you have suspicions, call the police on 0845 113 5000.
