Quick-thinking cashier foils Erdington bank robber

The would-be-robber as he is leaving the bank

Police are asking for help in identifying a man who tried to rob a bank in Erdington High Street before Christmas.
The man entered the bank on Friday 16th December at around 12.30pm. He handed a bag and a note to the cashier which claimed that he would shoot staff unless they filled the bag with money.
But the cashier pressed the button to activate the emergency screens, and the robber made a hasty, empty-handed retreat.
The robber is described as mixed-race or black male in his late 20s, just over six feet tall, slim build with dark brown facial stubble and a “pointy” nose.
