Brum 15th on ‘most likely to be burgled’ list

Birmingham, Britain’s second largest city, comes 15th in the league table of places where homes are most likely to be burgled, according to figures released yesterday by Endsleigh Insurance. Woman arrested

A 49 year-old Castle Vale woman was arrested on Tuesday morning following allegations of financial irregularities. Police have confirmed that the woman has been given police bail until May 6th, while further investigations are being carried out.

Stop cold callers campaign

   Residents of Castle Vale might be interested to learn of a new scheme being introduced in three areas of Birmingham designed to stop traders from calling at peoples’ doors to sell their wares. ‘No cold calling’ zones are being introduced in Yardley Fields, Sparkhill and Garretts Green to reduce doorstep crime and tackle rogue traders.

Houses slow to sell

  Just four houses were sold in Castle Vale during the first month of 2008, suggesting that the slowdown in the housing market has hit B35. During 2007, 85 properties were sold in Castle Vale, an average of 7 properties per month. House prices fell by 0.3% in the UK during February.

Bogus door collectors - advice to residents from Clothes Aid charity

‘£1 million improvements’ to Vale homes

Neighbourhood Manager Steve Clayton told the 2005 Group meeting that he hoped in excess of one million pounds worth of home improvements would be carried out by the Warm Front project, including cavity wall insulation for many homes on the estate. The second phase of the project is currently being undertaken by Shropshire Insulations.

High Street apartment block -Planning Application turned down

The City Council has turned down a planning application for a three-storey building comprising 11 residential apartments in Reed Square. The application was turned down under delegated powers, meaning that it was handed over for decision to one of the council officers, the Director of Planning.
