Householders in Birmingham are being warned by the Trading Standards Department not to disclose personal bank details to bogus ‘officials’ after reports of a phone scam in which an elderly couple received a call from someone claiming to be from the Council’s Tax Office. The caller told them that they were due a refund of £3,000 because their council tax banding had been changed.

JKS have appointed Mark Butterworth, from Thimblemill Phoenix and formerly of Coleshill, as their new manager. Club director Graham Crocker will continue as acting manager for this Saturday’s fixture, with Mark beside him in the dug-out.
Earlier this year, JKS parted company with manager Nigel Fry after a season in which they won promotion to the premier division. They then had a brief spell under the management of Roy Rencher to start this season before he left the club in October.
Last week, JKS directors told Castle Vale’s Neighbourhood Partnership Board of their ambitious plans for the future. Having won three consecutive promotions, they hope to continue their rise up the leagues to a point where they are playing at a professional level, in the Conference North or South, within the next five years.

Sion Simon, MP for Erdington and Minister in the Department for Culture Media and Sport will be presenting Castle Vale School students with their awards at tomorrow evening’s annual School Presentation Evening.

Performers in Castle Vale School’s production of Grease are going through their final week of rehearsals. Performances are 24th, 25th and 26th November at the school. All tickets have been sold.

A fine win for JKS at Bartley Green today is further evidence that the Vale youngsters are beginning to adapt to the standard of football in the Midland Combination premier division. Goals from Wilson and Thompson either side of half-time gave JKS their fifth win of the season, and their second since the departure of manager Roy Rencher.
