Seven stolen cars have been burnt out after being abandoned in the month of September in or near the conservation area off Farnborough Road. Most of the burn-outs have been done during the evenings or late into the night, but one which has caused real concern was done between 11 a.m. and midday. Rupert Johnson, Projects Manager of Vale’s Community Environmental Trust said: “Apart from the criminal aspects of these offences, they are a danger to people walking in the area. Even when the fires have been put out, the burning process causes the car paint to release toxins into the soil and pollute the area. Considerable damage is being done to the conservation area. There are lots of children who play in this area and we are very worried about this.”
