Ecstasy and agony for JKS

JKS Football Club enjoyed the highs and endured the lows of cup final football tonight. The youth team beat Hednesford 2-1 in the final of the County Cup at Tamworth’s ground, The Lamb.

But the senior side lost in a penalty shoot out against Fairfield Villa in the final of the Presidents Cup at Boldmere St Michael’s Ground. JKS fell behind in the first half,  but equalised early in the second thanks to a Luke Powell goal.

Fairfield took an early 2-1 lead in extra time, and with the Vale side down to ten men following the sending off of Nathan Thompson for retaliation, it looked all over for JKS. Then in the 119th minute of the game, Lewis Cheslin snatched a dramatic equaliser to take the game to penalties.

Fairfield, from Bromsgrove, kept their nerve and ran out 7-6 winners in the penalty shoot out.

I was both surprised and disappointed to find when I got to the game that there were no players from the Vale in the JKS side – the only association with the Vale, I was told, was that the manager lived there! It was windy and the ground hard and bumpy and Fairfield adapted better. It was a frightening time just before half-time when a Fairfield player fell and ‘swallowed his tongue’ which meant a lengthy hold up while paramedics and an ambulance came. It was a relief to see the guy get up and was carried off the pitch!

  2. dear david, im very disappointed that you never approached the jks management, who would have informed you that there were in deed 5 players last night all from castlevale playing ,you seem to have been given the wrong info, next time i would suggest you ask the relevant people .

I am sorry if you are disturbed by what I said but I’m only expressing my feelings! The person who told me obviously knew all the players and to my direct question as to how many live on the estate quite emphatically said none! I am all for the work that JKS have done and are doing.

  4. mr townsend,i find your comments quite laughable ,i am certainly not disturbed by your comments,in fact im amazed that you can express your feelings, because somebody told you that jks had no players from castle vale in there team .before talking to complete strangers and taking their word as gospel, surely the correct way to discover if in deed any players where from castlevale would have been to ask the jks management, then you could have taken that as gospel
