Crunch night for Erdington’s councillors

The twelve councillors of Erdington Constituency meet tonight to discuss the budget which has been thrown into confusion by the dispute about Castle Vale’s swimming pool. The last time the constituency met, last December, councillors voted to cut services at Castle Pool. But public outcry has caused some councillors to make a u-turn. Local Labour councillors claim that they have been misinformed about the number of people who use the facilities.
Erdington is one of ten constituencies that make up Birmingham’s full council. Constituencies have responsibilities for some services, including leisure and sport. They are given a budget to spend on these services, but Erdington have overspent by more than £600,000.
The meeting is at Gunter School starting at 7pm.
