Sixth form green light for Holyhead despite college objections

Council Cabinet members have ignored an objection from Birmingham Metropolitan College to plans for a sixth form at Holyhead School in the north west of Birmingham.
The 11-16 school will now be allowed to recruit A-level students. It is, according to Councillor Les Lawrence the Cabinet member for education, “a school that succeeds exceptionally well in an area where sceptics claimed that there would be no success at all.”
Birmingham Metropolitan College, who are to be partners in the Trust that is proposed for Castle Vale School, told local residents that they would not object to similar proposals for Castle Vale School if the Trust should ever propose them.
