Vale scrape through in dramatic finale

The goalkeeper's look of despair tells the JKS story, as Aaron Smith (red shirt) snatches a winner for Castle Vale FC in the final seconds of the game

A controversial last gasp winner against local rivals JKS  helped Castle Vale to stay on top of the Midland Combination this afternoon. Three goals in the last three minutes of the game brought an even contest to a thrilling climax at Farnborough Road. But JKS players feel that Aaron Smith’s second goal, scored in the 93rd minute of the game, should have been disallowed for handball.
JKS had taken the lead midway through the first half with a headed goal by Alex Henry from a corner kick. Robbie Ellis equalised for Vale FC within five minutes of the start of the second half.
Then in the final minutes of the game, Vale thought they had snatched a winner when Aaron Smith pounced on a through ball and slipped it past the JKS ‘keeper. Within a minute, Henry scored his second to equalise for JKS, but in injury time it was goal-poacher Smith who struck again with a dramatic winner to keep Vale FC’s promotion hopes alive.

What a climax! What a substitution by Castle Vale bringing on Aaron Smith late in the game! JKS could have been 2 or 3 ahead early in the game and missed a good chance to go ahead in the second half. It was a good contest with many good full-blooded tackles. Well done to both teams!

  2. very good game yesterday at the vale stadium, jks were again very unlucky not to take something out of the game, well done to my mate arron smith,(not sure if i can call him my mate now) took both his goals very well, even though his second was a clear hand ball, good luck to castlevale for the rest of the season, and thanks to all who came and supported both teams yesterday well done.

  3. Not a very good match at all. I went over expecting to see a brilliant match but how wrong was i. The supporters were great all 11 of them but that was the only thing that was good yesterday.

  4. Two poor teams, jks should have come out with 3 points.
midland comp football not a very good standard anymore
match officials also missing alot of bad tackles never really taken
    control of the game.

THE MATCH WASNT THAT BAD AS BEEN STATED ABOVE.
    HARD FOUGHT CONTEST.
THE FIRST HALF JKS SHOULD HAVE BEEN 2 OR 3 UP
SECOND HALF BELONGING TO CASTLE VALE.
VERY GOOD TURN OUT FOR A BANK HOLIDAY
I JUST HOPE CASTLE VALE FC GETS PROMOTED TO THE BIG LEAGUE THIS SEASON. AND WE CAN GET BEHIND JKS
FOR NEXT SEASON FOR THERE PUSH FOR THE PROMISED
    LAND.
    MANY THANKS TO ALL
