Vets victorious

Sunday league Football
Neither age, nor heavy defeats can wither Castle Vale Veterans. After a morale battering start to the season, the undaunted Vets have steadily improved.
They were thrashed 10-1 in their opening match. They were hammered 8-0 in their second fixture. But, with stout hearts and undented mettle, they forged a 2-2 draw in their third encounter. And this weekend, their resilience was rewarded with a 1-0 victory over Holy Souls in the mid Warwickshire Over 35s League, their first win of the season.

Four wins from four have taken St Gerards to the top of the Festival Senior Amateur League, and Castle Vale Jaguars head the top division of the Sutton and District Sunday League.  Jags are averaging over 6 goals per game… and have only conceded one goal in their three league matches.
