Erdington Councillor Gareth Compton is at the centre of a storm about a tweet he made in response to an interview given by writer Yasmin Alibhai Brown on BBC Radio 5 Live.
In response to the interview in which Yasmin Alibhai Brown spoke about human rights in China, Mr Compton tweeted: “Can someone please stone Yasmin Alibhai-Brown to death? I shan’t tell Amnesty if you don’t. It would be a blessing, really.”
Yasmin Alibhai-Brown says she has referred the matter to the police. Mr Compton has apologised for his “ill-conceived attempt at humour.”
