‘Courier’ thief snatches £24,000 of mobile phones

A THIEF has stolen £24,000 worth of mobile phones from a shop at the Fort Shopping Park in Erdington.
He entered Voicemobile around 4:45pm on Thursday 16 December, claiming to be a courier, and took away a delivery of 49 packages of mobile telephones, many of which were the iphone 4, and eight packages of sim cards.
Police say the offender is white, between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 10ins tall, about 28 years-old and medium build. He was wearing a long sleeved top and a thin yellow high visibility sleeveless vest jacket, striped beige baggy woolly hat, grey jeans, white belt and dirty white plimsolls.
Sergeant Jenny Harris from the Tyburn neighbourhood policing team is appealing for information from the public: “It appears he knew exactly who to approach inside the store. It is also believed he attempted to take the parcels earlier in the day, around 3:30pm.”
