January deadline for Council budget proposals

BIRMINGHAM RESIDENTS have until 17th January to register their views on proposed Council budget cuts. The Council aims to make savings of £300m in the next four years.
The budget proposals are outlined on a document on the Council website at:http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/budgetviews
The proposals mention specific sums to be saved, but are vague on which particular services will be axed. Services will be subject to ‘remodelling’ – a word frequently used in the document, and typical of the positive spin the Council is trying to put on a desperate situation that is likely to see major casualties.
The email address if you want to have your say is: budget_views@birmingham.gov.uk
