June’s Vale Mail out today



June’s Vale Mail has been published today and should be distributed across Castle Vale over the next three days.

£54,000 for local projects


Tyburn Ward Committee distributed funds of  £53,975 to projects for twelve organisations at its meeting at Erdington Hall Primary School last night. The Ward Committee  consists of the three Councillors, Mike Sharpe (chair), Lynda Clinton and Ann Holtom. They have an annual budget of £100,000 to support local projects. Three project requests were declined, and one was deferred until September.
The projcts that received funding are:

  • Urban Devotion Youth project – £15,000
  • Castle Vale Events Committee, carnival and awards evening – £3,350
  • Castle Vale Intergenerational Group – solstice event, older people’s visit to secondary school and Christmas Show -£3,000
  • Life Education Centres, West Midlands health programme in schools – £450
  • St Mary’s Church Pype Hayes – repairs to church organ – £5,045
  • Headline Media – expansion of Vale Mail for three issues to cover Tyburn area – £6,124
  • Castle Vale Jaguars FC – junior football development programme -£3,000
  • Royal Artillery Association – anniversary function, 55th memorial dinner, for ex servicemen – £1,500
  • Astral Advisory Committee , portable mirror for dance classes, and outdoor sign and noticeboard – £1,600
  • (RAPS) Retired Active People , for programme of activities – £1,000
  • West Midland Police , project aimed at tackling anti-social behaviour in Castle Vale – £3,926
  • CET (Environment Trust) outdoor education project for four Tyburn primary schools – £9,980
