FOUR men from the Erdington area have today been jailed for life by a judge at Birmingham Crown Court after being found guilty of the murder of Kingstanding shop keeper Suppiah Tharmaseelan.
Ian Meenan, aged 27, will spend a minimum of 27 years behind bars. His twin bother, John Meenan, was given 24 years. Liam Ryan, aged 19, will spend at least 21 years in prison while Anthony Mark Bayliss, aged 25, was given a 20 year sentence.
On the night of the murder, the men had been drinking in local pubs throughout the day and had decided to commit a robbery at the store in College Road. Once inside, they punched, kicked and stabbed Mr Tharmaseelan, who died from his injuries.
